Richard has 20 years of experience in insurance brokerage and 30 years of experience in insurance and risk management consulting and education. During his career, he has worked for a direct writer, a local agency, a regional agency, and a national insurance brokerage. He also ran a wholesale insurance brokerage and was a partner in a risk management consultancy. Richard is the principal editor of Essentials of Risk Management and the author of Net Income Risk Management and A Tedious Brief History of Insurance, all published by the Research Academy of the National Alliance. In addition, he has written more than 40 articles for the insurance trade press.
