$65M renovation planned for Austin’s Paramount, State theaters 

AUSTIN – The Austin Theatre Alliance has launched a $65 million renovation and preservation program for the Paramount Theatre and the State Theatre. 

The plan allocates $55 million for renovation work and $10 million for an endowment. 

Renovations to the Paramount Theatre will include replacement of seating, bathroom upgrades, concession upgrades, interior repairs, new decorative finishes, and construction of a third-floor bar and lounge.  

Work is expected to begin in June 2026 and finish March 2027. 

Renovations to the State Theatre will include a full lobby and lounge overhaul, new seating, a rooftop bar, a basement venue, capacity expansion from 300 to 500, and a new elevator.  

Work is expected to begin in July 2026 and finish in November 2028.
