Midland multisport complex expansion planned

MIDLAND – Midland Athletic Syndicate plans to build a 115K-sf addition to the Scharbauer Sports Complex just off Loop 250 Frontage Rd.

The new two-story indoor facility will have volleyball, basketball, and indoor soccer courts, and an open gym. The facility will also have locker rooms, concession sales, spectator seating, and rooms for meetings and education.

It will be used for sports leagues, community events, and possibly statewide sporting events.

Construction will cost around $35M, with all funds coming from nonprofit and private donations.

The city will lease the land to the organization for the next 99 years.

Leaders of the Midland Athletic Syndicate are expected to break ground within the first quarter of next year. Completion is expected within 12-18 months.​
