Austin – The state has announced a renewed $3.3 billion effort to expand broadband access to unserved and underserved areas.

The state’s Broadband Development Office will accept grant applications from June 9 to July 22 through a new Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA).

Funding comes from the federal Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program, which allocated $3.3 billion to Texas, matched by $550 million from the state.

Grants of up to $500 million will support broadband projects, including network construction, equipment upgrades, multi-family housing access, and cybersecurity infrastructure.
