TWDB approves $2.7B investment for statewide wastewater projects
AUSTIN – The Texas Water Development Board will distribute $2.7 billion to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects statewide.
Houston will receive $967 million to build new drinking water treatment facilities producing 360 million gallons per day (mgd).
The North Texas Municipal Water District will use $880.8 million for a high service pump station and two large pipelines from Lake Texoma.
McAllen will spend $198.5 million on a brackish groundwater desalination plant and new well field.
Fort Worth will receive $180 million to expand the Eagle Mountain plant by 35 mgd.
Brushy Creek will use $72.5 million to increase capacity at its regional water treatment plant.
Baytown Area Water Authority will receive $69 million to double capacity at the East Surface Water Treatment Plant and add supporting infrastructure.
Laguna Madre Water District will spend $64.7 million to build a seawater reverse osmosis plant and intake system.
