San Antonio adopts $4B budget
SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio has adopted a $4 billion budget for FY 2026, prioritizing public safety, housing, infrastructure, homelessness, and city employee compensation.
The plan allocates $1.1 billion to the Capital Fund, with $648.8 million dedicated to airport expansion and renovation.
The San Antonio International Airport will spend $519.6 million to build a new terminal, $40.2 million on a parking garage and ground transportation center, and $21.9 million on three temporary ground loading gates.
Street infrastructure will receive $186.9 million for 21 miles of new sidewalks, 11 miles of repairs, full street reconstructions, intersection improvements, multimodal connections, and pedestrian safety features.
Parks will gain $75.8 million for trails, aquifer protection land, shade improvements, and a new senior and community facility with a natatorium.
The city will invest $71.1 million in municipal facilities, including solar panels at 42 sites, elevator and escalator upgrades at the Gonzalez Convention Center, a new 10,000-sf recreation building, renovations at the Ella Austin Community Center, and rehabilitation of public health and safety facilities.
