AUSTIN – The Texas General Land Office has acquired two ranches near the nation’s southern border to enhance border security. 

The first is a 1,402-acre property in Starr County where state leaders plan to build a 1.5-mile stretch of border wall. 

The second is the 353,785-acre Brewster Ranch near Big Bend National Park. The asking price was more than $245 million. 

King Land & Water represented the seller, Texas Mountain Holdings. CBRE Group and Chas. S. Middelton and Son represented the buyer.
