LUBBOCK – The Lubbock Independent School District will build three new elementary schools for $151 million under a voter-approved May 2025 bond.

The projects are in design, with construction expected to begin soon and schools scheduled to open for the 2028-29 year.

The district will use the vacant O.L. Slaton Middle School building site for a new Bean Elementary, combine Stewart and Williams at the current Williams Elementary campus, and build a consolidated Wolffarth and McWhorter campus at the vacant Matthews Building site.

Each school will serve up to 750 students.

Existing structures on the selected sites will be demolished for construction, and campuses closed through consolidation will be sold, donated, or demolished.
