HOUSTON – Metropolitan Transit Authority is developing plans to widen bus lanes and stops along more than 15 miles of Westheimer from downtown Houston to George Bush Park.

The improved bus stops will include lighting and digital signs to display when the net bus will arrive, along with sidewalk repairs, curbs to make boarding the bus less of a step up for riders, and pockets where passengers can board the bus without it blocking the street.

The project will cost around $30 million with funding coming from federal sources; the $3.5 billion in local borrowing voters approved in 2019; and city, county, and area management districts.
