Expert Bio
Jorge is an economist with a background in macroeconomics and public finance. He joined the Texas Real Estate Research Center in 2025.
Prior to joining the Center, Jorge worked at Rice University’s Baker Institute of Public Policy, where he specialized in the development of macroeconomic models for long-term forecasting and fiscal policy analysis. He also worked at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he led the development of a large-scale macroeconomic model and was a founding contributor to the Penn Wharton Budget Model.
He began his career as an assistant professor at Louisiana State University and has held positions in both state and federal government.
Jorge holds undergraduate degrees in economics and mathematics from Louisiana State University, as well as Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
