Elgin greenlights 763-home master-planned community 

ELGIN – Southside Meadows, a 174-acre master-planned community along County Line Rd., will have more dense housing than initially planned. 

Plans had called for 526 single-family homes, but that number has increased to 763, and the city council has approved an amendment to the previous agreement. 

Of the 763 homes, 457 will be built on lots with 40-ft frontage, 123 will be on lots with 45-ft frontage, and 183 will be built on lots with 50-ft frontage. 

Additionally, the community will have three acres of parkland donated to the city, and amenities will include a children’s play area and pickleball and basketball courts.
