BROWNSVILLE – The city is receiving more than $9 million in federal funding for upgrades to the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport.

The funding is from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Airport Improvement Plan, and it will support the second phase of reconstruction of Runway 18/36.

The project is necessary to ensure the runway meets modern safety standards and can accommodate future growth at the airport, improving both efficiency and safety for passenger and cargo flights.
