Red River Army Depot jobs; armored military vehicles
TEXARKANA AREA (BOWIE COUNTY) – Red River Army Depot (RRDA) is expected to reduce its workforce by 600 jobs beginning this month (May 2018) because of decreasing workload requirements.
The commander of the depot, which manufactures military vehicles such as the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle and also installs protection against mines, announced the layoffs in early March 2018, citing planned reductions in the facility’s workload
As many as 400 employees and up to 200 temporary and term government employees will be eliminated, according to the press release. The reductions are expected to begin in May, and more could be laid off in August, it states.
The maintenance and repair facility 18 miles west of Texarkana, Texas, notified employees that it will reduce its workforce by up to 400 contractor workers and up to 200 temporary and term government employees.
