AUSTIN – Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) has acquired 2,020 acres in Burnet County for a new state park.

The property includes two miles along the Colorado River and is across the river from Colorado Bend State Park.

The acquisition represents phase one of creating a more than 3,000-acre new state park.

The second phase includes acquiring an additional 1,100-acre property in Lampasas and Burnet Counties.

TPWD will develop a plan with input from the public to determine recreational opportunities for the property.
