
Expert Bio
Lynn joined the Texas Real Estate Research Center staff in 2022, bringing an extensive background in commercial real estate, rural land, and property tax consulting. He began his career in 1992 at the Center as a graduate assistant to Dr. Charles Gilliland.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and master’s in land economics and real estate, both from Texas A&M University in College Station. Lynn earned his Ph.D. from Georgia State University while working for the Institute of Professionals in Taxation in Atlanta. From there, he returned to Texas as Senior VP of a Dallas-based student housing development firm.
In 2007, Lynn turned his focus to commercial real estate and property tax consulting. In his last role before joining the Center, he served as CEO of a consulting firm, which he led for eight years through tremendous growth and successful private equity investments.

The second quarter saw a continuation of the rising year-over-year price change, defying expectations, coming in at 4.60 percent. Comparing year-to-date sales from 2Q2024 to 2Q2025 across the 33 Land Market Areas, the sales volume was down in 18 LMAs and down 11 percent overall.
