BROWNSVILLE – The second phase of Bella Vista luxury apartments has broken ground at 4305 E. Ruben Torres Blvd. and should be complete by early 2018.

The new piece will add 144 units and luxurious amenities.

Once complete, Bella Vista’s 272 total units will make it the largest Class A, market-rate (unsubsidized) multifamily complex in the Lower Rio Grande Valley.

The first of Bella Vista’s phase-two units—efficiency to three-bedroom—should be ready to lease by July. Rents will range from $768 to $1,096.

The construction lender is IBC Bank of Brownsville

With SpaceX coming and more activity expected at the Port of Brownsville, there might be a shortage of housing.

JJR Group Ltd. is the development company behind the project.
